Book Talk and Stuff Part 2

How have you been? I’ve come up for air for a brief time then it’s back below the surface of ‘The Ocean of a Hectic Life’. So I managed to get some reading done last month; don’t know when I will get to finish the two novels I have recently started: Song of Night which is a literary work by Glenville Lovell and David Ruffle’s Sherlock Holmes and The Lyme Regis Legacy. The Iron Admiral turned out to be a nice science fiction story, I was not disappointed and it was well written.

Mean Streak by Sandra Brown was a good read as well. I really hoped it would have been a great read but the last Brown novel I read was Lethal…and Lee Coburn is a hard and sexy act to follow. I felt as if it cooled off after the big guy dropped Emory off at uhm, that place (I’m avoiding spoilers) and was a bit drawn out. Mean Streak was classic Sandra Brown; two large scoops of suspense/action ice cream with a passion cherry on top and although it was not a big bang for me I still strongly recommend it.

Vampire Moon by J. R. Rain was a lukewarm follow up to Moon Dance for me. I did like the case Samantha was working on with the man who was seeking justice for his wife who died in a plane crash. That intimate scene between her and Kingsley though...came over a little bland; don’t get me wrong, I didn’t expect an erotica show but it lacked passion in my opinion. I will be reading book three though without a doubt.

And last…is The Big Bad Wolf by James Patterson. Which I did not care for at all. The story appeared to have so much promise about this man who seemed to wield so much power it was beyond comprehension. How do I describe my experience reading this one? Let’s see. Imagine you have met this sweet guy or girl who is super vibrant and interesting and they ask you out on a dinner date. You put on your best and you are so excited that you arrive at the restaurant before they do and you sit and wait for them to grace the doorway. And that’s all folks! They never show up! All that rush and anticipation for nothing. Just poof! Don’t get me started on the ending of the book which I won’t disclose because if you have not read it yet, I will only ruin it for you.

I have yet to read Hook by K.R. Thompson and in June I am embarking on a reading journey with Under the Dome by Stephen King with some of the girls who live at Reader’s Paradise, Goodreads. They are awesome!

My recommended reads for today are: Only Time Will Tell- historical fiction novel by Jeffrey Archer and The Overlook which is a crime fiction book by Michael Connelly. I introduced a friend to Mr. Connelly's work and now she has read more of his writing than I have!

Did you hear that? That is the sound of the waves of ‘The Ocean of a Hectic Life’ drawing me under. So please stay good, if that’s what you want, if you want to be bad, well, that’s alright; I believe you should try and excel in whatever you do! Taking a deep breath………

Olivia
